BIOGRAPHY

Hi, my name is Shanni Ong and I am a self-taught artist, I was born in Manchester but grew up in Malaysia.

I have the blessing of experiencing both Eastern and Western cultures, which is reflected in my paintings. During my early twenties, I came across ‘The Complete Letters of Vincent Van Gogh.’ His passion for life, art and painting was the initial inspiration for me to embark onto this journey.

 

My passion is to explore my own consciousness as an energetic being. How I perceive the world around me and my relationship with it. My connection with nature is the source of my inspiration. The light and its colours. The chaos in its perfect harmony. I sense the time and space like a piece of music and bring that into the canvas.

 

No two paintings were done in the same way. It can be realism, where I plan it all out. Or abstract expression, where I totally immerse myself into the unknown. Each finished painting holds a certain energetic imprint for that particular moment in time and I hope that it will resonate with you.
